Entre 1988 y 1989 trabajé como Jefe de Conservación y Museografías en el Museo de Etnografía y Folclore de La Paz. En este tiempo aprendí mucho de ambas especialidades y de las posibilidades de realizar muchas obras con poco presupuesto para lo cual se debían invertir muchas ganas.Realizar este trabajo, por invitación de mi colega y amiga Elizabeth Torres, para mí fue como volver a trabajar a casa, a pesar de que muy pocos de la vieja familia del MUSEF permanecían.
Trabajé muchos anteproyectos sobre la misma base geométrica, hasta que fue Eduardo Soux, mi socio y el ingeniero que calculó la estructura, que me sugirió realizar una porción de bóveda. (Daniel)
Descripción del proyecto
El Proyecto en esencia, es el resultado de una buena solución estructural para cubrir el Segundo Patio, el cual se hallaba muy abandonado y deteriorado. Se hicieron todos los esfuerzos para que la obra resulte exenta a la estructura del edificio colonial.
Se trabajó la cuarta fachada del patio lo más sobriamente posible, con la intención de no hacer tan evidente la estructura, incluyendo en la fachada a la cruz de San Andrés que aparecía detrás de un muro falso. Y se realizó un trabajo depurado para posibilitar un acceso y foyer a esta nueva sala que tenía el Musef, y el vínculo directo con el Primer Patio que posee la tan famosa portada colonial. Posteriormente, pudimos participar directamente en el proceso de la obra.
No puedo dejar de comentar que, en esta sala, he cantado como integrante de Coral Nova, he participado en una Bienal de Arquitectura, he realizado una exposición con mis alumnos de Taller de Diseño 8 de la Universidad Católica, cuando realizamos un trabajo sobre Yanacachi el año 2002. Finalmente, he realizado una instalación artística, que transformó temporalmente el sentido de la arquitectura del patio en el Concurso Internacional de la Bienal Internacional de Arte Siart en su versión del 2005. GLAZED ROOF SECOND COURTYARD MUSEF
La Paz, Bolivia.
Between 1988 and 1989 I worked as Head of Conservation and Museographies at the Ethnography and Folklore Museum of La Paz (MUSEF). During this time, I learned a lot about both specialties and the possibilities of carrying out many works with a small budget, for which I had to invest a lot of enthusiasm.
Carrying out this work, at the invitation of my colleague and friend Elizabeth Torres, was, for me, like going back to work at home, despite the fact that very few of the old MUSEF family remained.
I worked on many blueprints on the same geometric basis, until Eduardo Soux, my associate and the engineer who calculated the structure, suggested to make a portion of a vault.
The Project, in essence, is the result of a good structural solution to cover the Second Courtyard, which was abandoned and deteriorated. Every effort was made so that the architectonical insertion could result exempt from the structure of the colonial building.
The fourth façade of the courtyard was worked as soberly as possible, with the intention of not making the structure so obvious, including on the façade the cross of San Andrés that appeared behind a false wall. In addition, a refined work was carried out to allow access and foyer to this new room that the Museum had, and the direct link with the First Courtyard that has the so famous colonial façade.
Later, we were able to participate directly in the process of the construction.
I cannot stop commenting that, in this room, I have sung as a member of Coral Nova, I have participated in an Architecture Biennial, I have held an exhibition with my students from Design Workshop 8 of the Catholic University, when we did a work on Yanacachi the year 2002. Finally, I have made an artistic installation, which temporarily transformed the sense of the architecture of the courtyard in the International Contest of the International Biennial of Art Siart in its version of 2005.
