Estos últimos años hemos tenido muchos proyectos que han quedado en la testera, que por razones de fuerza mayor o simplemente por el cambio de parecer de sus promotores no se terminaron por hacer realidad. Ese sueño, de arquitectxs, de ver una idea germinar y transformarse en espacios reales es una de las grandes dichas y es la etapa proyectual donde como estudio de arquitectura terminamos de diseñar y disfrutar del detalle. El año 2016, esta joven pareja se acercó a nosotros para que en un terreno complicado les diseñemos una vivienda que pueda construirse por etapas. El año 2022 regresaron con el sueño de una reconversión de aquella idea y una vez más desarrollamos el proyecto hasta la etapa de diseño final. Las redes nos mostrarían que, finalmente, decidieron contratar a SOMMET, pese a la frustración, que escojan al estudio más laureado de Bolivia en la actualidad, se ha sentido como perder frente Goliat.(Santiago)
Descripción del proyecto
La complejidad de este encargo pasa por la necesidad de insertar un amplio programa funcional en un predio con complejas características: Se trata de un terreno de alta pendiente con un desnivel de 15 metros aproximadamente y definido por dos diagonales que se encuentran en una gran curva que define la ruta que sube al barrio de la Escondida en La Paz. La joven familia nos hizo el encargo de una vivienda dividida en cuatro hechos programáticos y que debía levantarse del suelo como si estuviera apoyada en zancos.
En el nivel inferior y en contacto con la parte baja del terreno y futuro amplio jardín solicitaron una amplia área de servicio y los parqueos. En la planta baja se ha definido el primer ambiente social de la vivienda con una cocina parcialmente abierta al comedor y la sala, así como un primer dormitorio de visitas. La planta baja fue hábilmente ubicada en una cota alta para que tanto el área social, así como el gran balcón jardín puedan lograr consolidar un espacio verde relativamente elevado y sin interrupciones en lo que a la vista de la ciudad se refiere. En la planta alta se ubicarían los dormitorios y una sala pequeña de estar, dejando un amplio parrillero, pequeña piscina y el estudio del propietario en el último nivel ocupando únicamente una parte de la planta.
El objetivo era conseguir una vivienda de cuatro niveles que, sin embargo, luzca como una vivienda de únicamente dos, y que, proyectándose desde el sector alto del terreno y parezca levantar vuelo por encima de la pendiente natural y hacia la ciudad.
Con eso en mente se concibió un proyecto que muestre dos caras claramente trabajadas, una primera caja dura de ladrillo asentada contra la pendiente que resuelve la circulación vertical y el acceso a la vivienda y una segunda compuesta por una serie de planos horizontales que a manera de aleros y pliegues muestran la idea de una casa balcón, mirando hacia la ciudad aprovechando la vista privilegiada que se tiene de ésta desde el barrio de La Escondida.

BALCONY HOUSE

In recent years we have had many projects that have been left behind, either for reasons of force majeure or simply due to the change of mind of their promoters, they did not end up becoming a reality. That dream, for architects, of seeing an idea germinate and transform into real spaces is one of the great joys and is the project stage where as an architecture studio we finish designing and enjoying the detail making. In 2016, this young couple approached us so that on a complicated plot of land we could design a home for them that could be built in stages. With the project almost finished, they decided to pause their dream and it will only be at the beginning of 2022 that they returned with the request for a redesign.
The complexity of this assignment comes from the need to insert a broad functional program in a property with complex characteristics: It is a highly sloping piece of land with a slope of approximately 15 meters and defined by two diagonals that meet in a large curve that defines the route that goes up to the Escondida neighborhood in La Paz. The young family commissioned us to create a house divided into four programmatic facts and which had to rise from the ground as if it were supported by stilts.
On the lower level and in contact with the lower part of the land and future large garden, they requested a large service area and parking spaces. On the ground floor, the first social environment of the home has been defined with a kitchen partially open to the dining room and living room, as well as a first guest bedroom. The ground floor was cleverly located at a high level so that both the social area and the large garden balcony can consolidate a relatively elevated green space without interruptions in terms of the view of the city. The bedrooms and a small living room would be located on the upper floor, leaving a large barbecue area, a small pool and the owner’s study on the top level, occupying only part of the floor.
The objective was to achieve a four-story house that, however, looks like a house with only two, and that, projecting from the upper part of the land and seems to rise above the natural slope and towards the city. With that in mind, a project was conceived that shows two clearly worked faces, a first hard brick box set against the slope that resolves the vertical circulation and access to the home and a second composed of a series of horizontal planes that, as a way of Eaves and folds show the idea of a balcony house, looking towards the city taking advantage of the privileged view of it from the La Escondida neighborhood.
