Por esos días estábamos participando en algún trabajo en el ámbito artístico con Carlos Villagómez cuando nos invitaron a participar a cada uno en el concurso, junto con otros arquitectos; unos años antes ya habíamos trabajado conjuntamente en el concurso Internacional del Parque Urbano Central de La Paz. Así fue como decidimos trabajar este concurso también de forma conjunta. (Daniel)
Descripción del proyecto
La normativa vigente en ese año, permitía solamente una altura de 11 pisos. Lo cual evidentemente ofrecía pocas posibilidades a contar con un edificio esbelto para un terreno de tremendas dimensiones –difícil de encontrar- en la zona sur de la ciudad.
El gesto central fue el de realizar en edificio distribuido en dos bloques, los cuales se unían en las plantas superiores, a manera de un gran pórtico. Como el terreno tiene acceso a tres calles, y la calle posterior a la Av. Ballivián (la avenida central de la zona sur), posee otra normativa de alturas, se tuvo que realizar un bloque de menor altura hacia esa calle posterior.

TORRE PANAMERICAN I COMPETITION

In those days I and Carlos Villagómez were participating in a work in the artistic field, when the client invited each of us to participate in the contest, along with other architects; A few years before, we had already worked together in the La Paz Central Urban Park International contest. This is how we decided to work this contest also together.
The norm in that year only allowed a height of 11 stories. Which evidently offered few possibilities to have a slender building for a terrain of tremendous dimensions – difficult to find – in the southern part of the city.
The central gesture was to carry out the building divided into two blocks, which were joined on the upper floors, in the manner of a large portico.
As the land has access to three streets, and the street behind Av. Ballivián (the central avenue in the southern area) has other regulations for heights, a lower block had to be made towards that back street.
