Si hay un concurso que nos ha dolido perder es este; quizás el único consuelo posible es que los ganadores del concurso, que posteriormente terminaron desarrollando una gran obra, fueron mis alumnos y compañeros en años anteriores de todos mis asociados.El concurso se realizó en dos fases, para la segunda fase se eligieron tres finalistas. Descripción del proyecto
Veníamos buscando que las plantas bajas de edificios privados permitieran un uso público y verde. Queríamos devolver a la ciudad el verde que se pierde con la demolición de casas con jardines.
A pesar de que se requería una agencia de banco en planta baja, optamos por tener dos plantas bajas: una en subsuelo y otra con pendiente sobre la Av. 6 de agosto. Decidimos elevar el arranque de la torre de oficinas, liberando el cuerpo del edificio un par de niveles, en contra de la normativa que permite basamentos de dos niveles.
Además, propusimos un mirador en la planta superior, con acceso libre y una museografía sobre la historia del banco, incluyendo un memorial de los clientes desde sus inicios. Se implementó una doble piel inteligente para ventilación y calefacción según la orientación.

CONTEST: BANCO FIE TOWER

If there is a contest that has hurt us to lose, it is this one; Perhaps the only possible consolation is that the winners of the contest, who later ended up developing a great work, were my students and classmates all my partners in the project.The contest was held in two phases, for the second phase three finalists were chosen.
We had been looking for years for the ground floors of private buildings to allow public use –and with a lot of green- of this space, prior to entering the building, with the aim of giving back to the city some of the green that is being removed when old houses with trees and gardens, get demolished in order to raise great towers.
Although there was an express requirement that this building, containing the Bank’s national headquarters, should have a bank agency on the ground floor, we opted to build two ground floors; one more in the subsoil, entering through the lowest elevation of the terrain, and the other, with a small slope from the highest elevation on Av. 6 de Agosto.
From this this decision on, we opted to raise the start of the office tower and release the body of the tower a couple of levels; In other words, the complete opposite of what is indicated in the current regulations that allow the construction of two-level foundations occupying 100% of the land on the two lower levels (discounting the frontal retreat).
Likewise, with a social vision, since it is a bank whose origin was the promotion of SMEs and micro-loans to the neediest sectors, we proposed a viewpoint on the top floor with free access to the entire population, which included a museography dedicated to the history of the bank, and, where a kind of memorial would appear with the names of all the bank’s clients since its inception.
A smart double skin was worked, ventilated in times of excess heat, but with the ability to provide heating at the required times at different times of the day, depending on its orientation.
